I am fairly new to the area and went to Ernie's Auto Repair to find out why my engine was rattling when I started my car. My check engine light had never come on, I just took it in to get look at because the rattling had gotten worse. Chris looked at it and said it was my timing chain, which is a very costly repair (around $1200). At that time paid a diagnostic fee and for the alleged oil put in motor when he checked it.

I would not recommend this place at all!

He was Awsome and charming..sealed the deal for me they are our shop.

These people are top notch people and mechanics..Butch helped me with a Christmas present for my husband( 78 Nova)

The next week he fixed the timing chain within a day and when I picked it up everything seemed fine. But when I turned off my car and turned it back on the check engine light came on. I called, went back he "reset the sensor." I drove back to work and when I back into my car to leave work for the day my check engine was back on. So I called again and he said he would look and stated that it maybe my sensor but would need a day to look at it again and do some research it. But he would fix the sensor and only charge me for the part and not the labor –this was my first red flag because why would you offer to do that if you didn’t have a hand in what caused the next problem you have meticulously charged me for every little thing you have done to my car up to the point why the break now?

Why

I am well aware that I don’t know much about cars but that is pretty ludicrous to think that a light will magically turn off after driving 100 miles. I drove the 100 miles, the light is not off and needless to say they will not be touching my car ever again. I got it looked at again by someone else and the sensor is indeed broken and my educated guess is that they broke it while fixing my chain because I never had a sensor issue until after they touched my car.

A few days later, against my better judgement took it back there, he had it for the majority of the day never called to let me know what the problem was so I called around 3:30pm to check in and he said he lost my number (mind you I’ve been up here 3 times, you have 2 receipts with my contact information). He said that my sensor isn’t broken but “sensitive” all I need to do is get an oil change which I was not due for another few thousand miles, a motor flush and then drive it 100 miles and the sensor should go off (paid $90).

Great service, Great work in a timely manner! I will definitely go back and recommend to anyone needing car repair!
